Our 2nd 1/4 was as busy as ever!
Our amazing community were busy creating more sensational comfort cards, beanies, gloves & scarves for aged care & the homeless. as well as helping on few packing sessions.
We created & delivered 127 very full comfort packs that included stunning hand made quilts, scarves & beanies among other goodies to the Warrawee Community & Independent Living in Glen Eira for our aged care initiative.
We’ve also continued helping displaced Ukranian families and even featured on a Channel 10 new report about the same alongside World Vision and Souper Kitchen.
In May we held our annual National Volunteer Week Thank You Morning Tea in partnership with Highett Community Neighbourhood House and Chatty Café with over 50 attendees and loads of goodies including a huge auction & gift bags for all guests. This years even was funded by a granted we secured from the Federal government and was the 1st of 4 events the grant covers. We were honoured to have Tim Wilson, the then MP for Goldstein & also Brad Roweswell MP & Deputy Mayor Cr Hanna El Mouallem attend.
Local community radio Southern FM had us on 2 of their shows with Highett Community Neighborhood House & John Cotteral’s Happy Hour shows. John also attended one of our huge packing sessions a short time later.
We were lucky to receive donations of much needed goods from Bay Quilters, Officeworks, Socks 4 Support, CWA Bayside, CWA Mentone, Our Kitchen Table. Thank you again to all of those amazing organisations.
We also introduced our new look donation stations which are going amazingly well & added one to Chelsea Heights Community Centre.
We also supported Grace Heart Community Church. Bayciss, and a Highett rooming house for rough sleepers benefited from packs & non perishable food thanks to a grant from Community Bank Highett. We also helped Bayside Council and Bayciss with requests for specific goods for people they are supporting.
KOGO announced us as charity partners & we also received a massive donation of mini toiletries from another organization who wishes to stay anonymous.
Towards the end of the ¼ we begun our drive for our winter homeless initiative that is currently underway.
